New Paltz Hosts Keith Haring & Alex Katz Art for Upstate Art Weekend
Keith Haring and Alex Katz art hanging in a New Paltz gallery is one of those experiences most people always want to be part of. Fortunately, this weekend gives you exactly that.
It's all part of Upstate Art Weekend, the region's annual celebration of art running June 25 to 29, 2026, across the Hudson Valley. The festival brings together hundreds of artists, galleries, and cultural spaces right here in New Paltz.
This five-day exhibition gives you a chance to explore art from reputable artists like Alex Katz and Keith Haring, with new pieces from local pop artists like Ryan Cronin and Dylan Martinez. The event brings generations of art into the same room for you to explore what you've been missing.
Why New Paltz, though?
This town has always had more going on than its size suggests. From the Gunks and the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail to the indie bookstores and a gallery scene, New Paltz keeps proving it punches above its weight.
Upstate Art Weekend didn't pick this town by accident, and neither did the thousands of visitors who'll be wandering Main Street with a program guide in hand, deciding which shows to hit first.
Make a stop at Farmers Choice
If you're spending the day gallery-hopping or making the drive up from the city just for this, Farmers Choice is right here at 1 Old Route 299, open daily from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
So if you've been contemplating things to do in New Paltz this weekend, you've got an entire lineup to explore. Whether you're heading into town first thing or wrapping up your art crawl in the evening, we're an easy stop along the way, with the same friendly faces and neighborhood feel you'd expect from your local shop.
We're glad you're here
Weekends like this are exactly why we love being part of New Paltz. This is a town that draws world-class art because the people here care about culture, creativity, and showing up for each other. At Farmers Choice, we're proud to be a small part of that story.
So grab the program, map out your stops, and swing by while you're in town. We'll be here throughout the weekend, rooted in the Hudson Valley, grown for the community.
Building the art day around a stop at the barn
New Paltz makes an easy base for an art weekend, and Farmers Choice New Paltz sits right at the entrance to town at 1 Old Route 299, where Route 299 meets Thruway Exit 18. The barn is open 8AM to 10PM daily, so it works whether you are heading out early or circling back after the last venue closes. There are about 35 parking spots and EV charging on site, which matters on a weekend when village parking fills up fast.
Order ahead on the New Paltz menu if you would rather not spend gallery time at a counter. Place the order, pick your time, and pay in person when you collect it. Most orders are ready within the hour. Bring a valid government-issued photo ID showing you are 21 or older, and expect everything to leave the store sealed.
More of the valley while you are here
If the weekend runs long, the rail trail and Water Street Market are both minutes away, and the Shawangunks are a short drive west. On the Dutchess side of the river, our original farm stand in Fishkill at 18 Westage Drive keeps even later hours on Friday and Saturday, until 11PM, which makes it the practical stop for anyone driving home toward Beacon or Poughkeepsie.
